- Masham — historic market town
- Jervaulx Abbey — a 12th-century Cistercian ruin set in peaceful parkland
- Middleham — a racehorse training centre with a ruined castle where Richard III trained as a knight and later made his principal northern residence
- Swineside and Penhill — both with sweeping views over lower Wensleydale
Lunch · c.12.30pm
- Aysgarth Falls or Bolton Castle — depending on timings. Bolton Castle is a remarkably well-preserved 14th-century fortress with time to explore freely
Return York · c.5.00pm via Leyburn
